Dragon Boat Festival gift box, love the mango!  PSA business group and PSA Charitable Foundation support the farmers and order additional 800 boxes of mango.

(June 30th, Taipei) In the face of global outbreak of Covid-19, Taiwan has entered level-3 alert since mid-May. It has great impact on people from all walks of life in Taiwan and inevitably affects the selling of in-season Pingtung mangoes. Pingtung mangoes had survived the heat waves, drought, and pest, and successfully entered the prolific season. However, as a result of the invasion of variant stains of Covid-19, great number of mango orders are cancelled and the cancelling has hit the fruit farmers hard. For over a decade, PSA business group and charitable foundation have contracted farming with Pingtung fruit farmers to purchase in-season Aiwen mango as the annual Dragon Boat Festival gift box. It differs from the traditional festival gift box and has earned the heart of the receivers. Recently, the outbreak of Covid-19 has once again affected the fruit industry. PSA, showing support and appreciation for the local farmers, has not only purchased the original 700 boxes but also made an additional order of all the left-over mangoes to share with its employees. PSA will stand by the fruit farmers in the impact of Covid-19.

The global outbreak of Covid-19 has spread for over a year. It is not too much a hardship for most people to travel less and to skip a few performances. However, since a month ago, Taiwan has entered the 3-level alert and people starts to feel the impact of epidemic prevention measures on daily life. In fact, many people and their businesses have already suffered for a long time. The situation of tourism and tour guides, entertainment industry and theater actors, and catering business and farmers has worsened after the announcement of 3-level alert. To make the matters worse, the invasion of variant strains of Covid-19 last week has caused a wave of order cancelling that affects the mango farmers greatly.

Different from the traditional rice dumpling gift box, PSA business group and foundation has chosen the high-quality Pingtung Aiwen mangoes for the Dragon Boat Festival gift box. For over a decade, PSA has contracted farming with local fruit farmers to provide the mango gift box that has been popular among the receivers. Many of them have even contacted the farmers themselves to order more. PSA Charitable Foundation CEO, Lin Long Sen, said: “One thing we expected the most every year is the Aiwen mangoes from Pingtung Fangshan and Shizi Townships around the time of Dragon Boat Festival. The precious yellow fruit with its unique fragrance is the best gift to show our appreciation of our friends’ support for the past year.”

In response to the news about the impact of Covid-19 on the fruit farmers, Mr. Lin said that “due to the cancelling wave caused by the invasion of Delta virus into Pingtung, the whole year of work of local fruit farmers has gone down the drain. PSA business group and charitable foundation has come forward to support our long-term contract fruit farmers with actual actions.” PSA business group and foundation continue to contact the contract farmers to understand the current conditions and express our concern. On top of the original order of 700 boxes, PSA has put in the additional purchase of all the left-over mangoes to share with its employees. PSA business group and foundation will continue to support and accompany the fruit farmers in the face of the challenge. “The epidemic will pass and we will stand together and get through this difficult time”, said Lin Long Sen, PSA Charitable Foundation CEO.
